Washington D.C. - Today, Hector Sanchez Barba, founder of Mi Familia Decide, released the following statement on President Biden’s decision not to run for re-election and endorsement of Vice President Harris’ candidacy for president:

“President Joe Biden will go down as one of the most consequential presidents in our history. I had the opportunity to work closely with him and know that he is a man of his word and a profoundly honorable person. 

Together, we fought for the Latino community's policy priorities, including rebuilding our economy and infrastructure, passing landmark climate legislation, and putting forward critical executive actions to help relieve our immigrant familia. 

Now, he is passing the baton to a new generation of leaders to strengthen our democracy and protect our freedoms.

Vice President Kamala Harris has spent her career advocating for women, immigrants and families. She is a fierce defender of our freedoms who can beat Donald Trump and give families the tools they need to live prosperous lives.  

We know that Vice President Harris has fought for immigrants her entire career. We know that as President, she will advocate for our community and ensure that we work with Congress to fix our broken immigration system and provide our immigrant familia with a pathway to citizenship.

Trump and the MAGA Republicans have shown us what their vision for the future looks like with their Project 2025 plot. They’ll work to divide us so that they can ban abortion, execute mass deportations, cut Social Security and Medicare, and give more tax breaks to the wealthy and big corporations. 

The fight isn’t done; we must defend the progress made under the Biden-Harris administration. Mi Familia Decide will protect our freedoms this cycle, and we know that Kamala Harris is the candidate who will defend our country and advocate for the Latino community.”
